Happy Halloween

Monday night we went to the Fairbanks' for a little FHE activity...

Jadee painted.

Jeron carved.

Davis played.
Jack glowed.

Tonight is the night Jeron and Jadee have been waiting for all month! They dressed up as a dragon and a princess. Maggie was a princess, too, and Dylan was the Knight in Shining Armor. We wish we could have with them to take pictures and trick-or-treat. Davis was a jack-o-lantern...we couldn't break the Nevada Higley tradition for the first Halloween costume!

We went up and down our street...and just look at their haul! I think their favorite part of the whole night was answering the door and handing out candy! It was a fun night!

Rollin', rollin', rollin'!

Davis rolled over from belly to back all by himself for the first time on Friday, October 19, 2007. He was 4 months, 4 weeks old. I thought it was an accident...but decided to document it anyway. Glad I did...I put him back on his belly and he did it again! Way to go, Davis! Next time I'll have the batteries in the video camera ready...

HEY...are those teeth in that cute little mouth?! Why, yes, they are...here's a zoom in...

Davis sprouted his first little meat-ripper one day shy of sixteen weeks (Sept. 13)...that's about a week and a half before he turned 4 months! The other poked through the next day. So, the question of the day is this...can anyone beat that? I'm curious to know at what ages other people's children got their first teeth. Jeron was 5 months, Jadee was almost 7 months. My niece, Maggie, just got her first tooth on Oct. 2, at 15 months and some days...after Davis! There will be a prize for anyone who can beat Davis...but you have to comment to get it!

Cute Kids

It has been so fun for us to have our Heywood cousins just an hour away at Grandma and Grandpa's house in Fallon! Aunt Dana and I decided that we should buy matching Christmas clothes (sponsored by Grandma...thank you!) and have their pictures taken all together. John, being the brave and selfless soul that he is, set up his in-home studio and took these fabulous pictures for us...

Dylan: Jeron and Jadee are twins.
Dana: No, Jeron is older than Jadee.
Dylan: Well, Jeron and I are twins.
Dana: No, you and Jeron are cousins.
Dylan: Well, we pretended to be twins.
Dana: Oh, you pretended to be twins?
Dylan: Yeah, we pretended to be twins.

Pretty great, I'd say, considering what we went through to get them...

1. We decided the day of that we were really going to do it (11 a.m.)

2. Which meant that Dana had to drive to Reno after getting the kids' hair cut (2 p.m.)

3. And we had to go clothes shopping (4 p.m.)

4. The clerk didn't get the red shirts in the bag (realization at 6 p.m. or so)

5. Jeremiah had to go back to get the shirts (6:20 p.m.)

6. I left Davis' shirt on the couch (6:40 p.m.)

7. Had to go back for it (6:50 p.m.)

8. We finally start pictures (7 p.m.)

9. Maggie likes to run away...

10. Davis is too tired...

11. Jadee is too ornery...

12. And Jeron and Dylan just want to watch the movie John had put on for them while they waited for me to get the shirt!

So, considering all of that...not too shabby! Thanks, again, Grandma and John!

Harvest Festival

Today was the Silver Lake Elementary (Jeron's school) Harvest Festival. I decided that since I didn't donate time nor talent to the cause, I should probably at least go and donate money! I even took it two steps further and got Grandma and Grandpa to bring Holly, Dana, Dylan and Maggie! It probably would have been a lot cheaper to donate my time or a cake or something...I think between our three families, we spent almost $50!! Here are some highlights:


The bounce house was our first stop...always a hit!


Jadee and Jeremiah each paid to play the cake walk. Somehow, Jadee was chosen to pick the number out of the bucket. First she chose a number that no one was standing on, so she got to pick again. She picked her dad's number! It took some pushing to get that beautiful cake...she wanted a little cupcake. Jeremiah finally showed her the little candies and let her eat some...that sold her on the big cake!


Maggie's favorite game was a FREE game...the swings on the playground! She and grandpa had a wonderful time and didn't spend a penny!


"Golfing" was a huge favorite...Jadee got a hole in one with Jeremiah's help, so she got a big lizard prize. Dylan got a hole in one with Grandpa's help, but somehow missed the big prize box. The picture shows his expression right after the ball went into the hole. Grandpa got a hole in one all by himself :) Yay, Grandpa! He picked a pretty purple flower for Holly.

And finally...what's a festival without cotton candy? Jadee thought it all kinds of fun to feed hers to Maggie.

Dana and I were also there, though there are few pictures of her to prove it and none of me...such is the life of the mom! It was a super fun day...we are so glad Grandma, Grandpa, Holly, and Dana and the kids would come to share it with us! We hope Silver Lake PTO spends our money wisely!

First Cereal

Davis went to the Dr. last week for his 4 month check-up and shots...here are his stats:

weight: 16 lbs. 5 oz. (75th percentile)

length: 27 in. (100th percentile)

head: 44 cm. (90th percentile)

Dr. Tatem suggested we start rice cereal, as we believe that he really is hungry when he wakes up in the middle of the night. So, last night we bought some and tried it out. I don't know whether he really liked it, but he did eat the whole bowl! AND...he slept for 9 1/2 hours straight last night! Yay! We hope for a repeat performance tonight!

Co-op Playgroup/Preschool

Today was our first turn to have playgroup/preschool at our house. We really should come up with a better name...don't you think? We started talking about the five senses and focused on touch.

We fingerpainted with cold, slimy pudding.

We made Pigs in a Blanket with squishy, soft bisquit dough. Delicious!

We also played a feeling game with lots of items in a bag...sorry, no pictures :(

I felt right back in my element. Jadee didn't appreciate having to share her mom...at least I think that's what she was telling me with all of her crying and fit-throwing?! The other kids were great! They all played my games and humored my craziness. So fun! I LOVE preschool!
